The ban already exists

A March 2025 notification prohibited these antibiotics in food-producing animals. Residues continued to be detected afterwards. Enforcement alone has not solved it, because the underlying incentive — disease losses — has not changed.

The real cost is the Import Alert

A refused consignment is the visible loss. The larger one is listing under an FDA Import Alert, which subjects every subsequent shipment to detention and testing at the exporter's own cost, indefinitely.

Rejections are a residue problem

Consignments fail on detection of banned antibiotic residues — not on pathogens, heavy metals or handling.

Residues are a disease-management problem

Those antibiotics are used, prophylactically and therapeutically, to manage bacterial disease in ponds — above all Vibrio species, which drive mortality events capable of wiping out a crop.

Disease management is a gut-health problem

Shrimp immune defence is substantially mediated through the gut. A microbiome dominated by beneficial populations resists Vibrio colonisation; a disrupted one does not.

What the research shows

XOS in Litopenaeus vannamei.

The published work is on the exact species India farms for export — Pacific white shrimp — and on the exact pathogen that drives antibiotic use.

Survival under challenge

Dietary XOS improved survival rates and resistance in juvenile L. vannamei challenged with Vibrio alginolyticus.

Microbiome shift

Prebiotic supplementation reduced Vibrio abundance while raising beneficial Bacillus and Pseudomonas populations.

Growth and FCR

Reported improvements in growth performance and feed conversion ratio alongside immune-marker response.

What we are not claiming. A prebiotic does not prevent export rejections. It cannot stop deliberate dosing of a banned substance, and it cannot undo residues introduced through contaminated hatchery inputs or feed. The claim is narrower and defensible: it reduces the disease pressure that makes antibiotic use tempting in the first place. Anyone promising more than that is overselling.

Why this is our first market

Feed grade needs no clearance.

XOS-35L feed grade carries no human-food regulatory barrier, so qualification with a feed mill runs in weeks rather than the years a food or pharmaceutical grade demands. It is the product we can supply earliest, into the market with the most urgent problem.

It is also where our traceability capability becomes directly commercial. Exporters are being asked to document antibiotic-free provenance, not merely assert it. A feed input that arrives with batch-level records supports exactly the paperwork that is currently failing.
